Rent.com is a pay-for-performance internet listing website offering property managers with 50+ units a quick, cost effective way to fill their vacancies. As a means to building trust and rapport crucial to attracting and maintaining clients,Rent.com turned to ProExhibits to design and stage their unique presence at the National Apartment Association trade show in San Diego. Says Trade Services Manager, Kellen Coak, “The most important success criteria we gave ProExhibits was to develop a unique, fun, entertaining experience for each attendee that would yield a high level of bonding and familiarity. If done well, we know this approach in today’s environment equates to high volume sales and referrals.”
To meet the challenge, ProExhibits dispensed with traditional booth construction in favor of a themed event format. The nautical ‘exhibit’ was designed as a pirate’s cove with spine-tingling costumes, scenes and sounds one would experience at Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean event. A 24′ X 10′ X 18′ ship, complete with weather-beaten sails and surrounded by marauding pirates in addition to tons of captured booty, dominated the space. Its carefully crafted, authentic appearance could be seen anywhere on the showroom floor. In keeping with the scene, a loud, booming cannon sprayed colorful confetti across the floor on a regular basis.Rent.com signage, 10′ x 4′ high, reinforced the theme using printed Sintra, painted inside and routed out for an old, jagged-edge, rugged appearance. To further enhance the experience, opportunities were designed for visitor fun and interaction, including photo opportunities, games and visual delights like the gaping jaws of a massive shark.
“The Rent.com pirate experience was easily the most well attended exhibit on the trade show floor. Branded photography, keepsakes, give-aways, and promotional items with long retention and sharing value ensures the Rent.com connection will be savored and shared over a long period of time,” says Coak. “The booth was the talk of the show. Everyone knew who we were and what we’re about. We could not be more pleased.”
